About Me
Born to Explore
Travel runs through my blood. My grandfather was a travel documentary maker who spent his life exploring the farthest corners of the globe, capturing the beauty and diversity of our world on film. Recently, I had the chance to watch some of his work, and it was like stepping into his shoes and seeing the world through his lens. One trip in particular left a lasting impression—an extravagant safari through Africa that he planned and documented for our family. Experiencing the vast savannahs, incredible wildlife, and vibrant cultures of Africa at such a young age lit a spark within me. It wasn’t just the trip itself but the way he turned every moment into a story that inspired me to seek out adventures of my own.
Growing up, my family continued this legacy of exploration. We traveled to incredible places, immersing ourselves in different cultures and landscapes, which only deepened my desire to explore more. When I went to college, I started taking small trips to visit friends in their hometowns and quickly realized how rewarding travel could be on a personal level. My first big leap was traveling to the Canary Islands, where some of my friends live. That trip, which I share in detail in my blog here, opened my eyes to the spontaneity and joy of venturing into the unknown with good company. It showed me how travel has the power to connect us, not just to places but to people and their stories.
As my confidence grew, I began taking solo trips, which challenged and shaped me in ways I never expected. There’s something transformative about setting off alone, relying on yourself, and forming connections with people you meet along the way. My solo travel to Cinque Terre, which I recount in my blog here, was one of those life-changing experiences. Hiking the colorful cliffside villages, making friends with fellow travelers, and embracing the freedom of being on my own taught me so much about who I am and how much there is to gain from stepping outside your comfort zone.
With all these experiences building up, I felt like I was carrying a wealth of travel knowledge and stories that I wanted to share. That’s when I started Destination Drifters. The idea was simple: create a space where people can come to feel inspired to travel, make it easier for them to navigate their own journeys, and celebrate the shared love of exploring the world. I wanted Destination Drifters to be more than just a blog—it’s a community. From practical travel tips to personal stories and even merch that represents this passion, the goal has always been to connect with like-minded people who find joy in wandering.
Now, as I study abroad in Prague, I’m taking Destination Drifters to the next level. Europe has been a dream to explore, with each country offering something unique, and I’ve been documenting it all to share with you. This journey isn’t just about me—it’s about building a global community of Drifters who are united by their love for adventure and the thrill of discovering the unknown. Whether you’re an experienced traveler or just taking your first step, I hope Destination Drifters can be a source of inspiration and guidance.
